A Playa Magic Part IV - The Journey Home

The journey home was the most challenging time of the week for me. On little sleep and even less comfort, I'd spent most of my days, after the playa, in the car with only an hour or two in between to rest and stretch my legs. I'd think that after 5 years of experiencing this event, I'd know the best formula for my decompression. But alas, as in all things, I am still learning. I have to admit that I was a bit of a poopy-pants, even though I had just come from the most positive place I've ever experienced. And isn't every experience positive if you make it so?

On our journey home, we swam in a private pool near Tahoe, saw the Redwoods in Northern California, camped near some bears on the border of Oregon. But the most vivid memory for me is that of the full moon, soaring over the city in Portland, the peak of Esnce's DJ mix climaxing from our CD player. How close it must feel to living on the moon when you are walking on the dried-up lake bed of the playa, the dark sky lit by neon outlines of human and alien-like Art.

How the moon draws us, every month, to our essence, just as the playa draws us, every year, to our source. By challenging us, pushing us to our outer edges, and allowing us to reflect on the ridiculousness of our modern society by building a new one in post-modern and prehistoric ways. To see our true beauty is to also see all that hinders us from it. It is our own Truth that leads us forward to find our power through Love.

And so in Truth, the emotional and physical difficulties that I worked through this year was my gift. And all that I have learned from them I carry with me from this day forward. Thank you, friends. Thank you, playa.
