I'm back from burning man and ready to take on the default world again. There is a blog from my adventures this year stirring in my head but it will take a while while I reflect. Tura reminded me that I also haven't written the Vegas part II yet. It may take me forever to do things, but eventually they happen! Blog entries seem to have a life of their own. I just recite them to the computer, change a few boring words using the thesaurus, hit publish and there you go.
So what does the default world have in store for me this year? Well, I can tell you the next 6 months are pretty much werk, werk, werk. I finished my Music Theory class but I'm not sure if I passed. Regardless, I learned plenty and have much much more to learn. The biggest thing I've learned is that Bjork is the Beethoven of our time. The second thing I learned is that those who study many years of Music Theory and practice it are inherently sensational musicians. So there is much more Music Theory in my future. The next step before that, though, is piano lessons. That will help me be able to build melodies. I'm also practicing writing rhythms using various tools (Ableton & Reason) that simulate a drum machine. I'm learning from the Live Session and Jay Ray how to create interesting rhythms on the fly without the songs being static.
On the DJ front, I'm back to dj'ing shows, but I'm limiting it to once or twice a month (if possible) for my own sanity. I didn't manage to stop completely like I had wanted to, but I had a nice break off in July. I don't have any residencies at the moment, but there may be one in the werks.
I'm also about to dive back into the Tech world head first. Back to full time for this one!! Gotta do it, werk for the Man. Get 'er done.
